Junior Proposal for the Senior Art Exhibition
All Art majors must participate in the Senior Capstone Art Exhibition during the spring semester of their senior year. Before enrolling in ART 499: Senior Art Capstone, students with junior standing must submit a Junior Proposal to the Art Faculty during the spring semester of their junior year.
The proposed project will be further developed in ART 480: Advanced Studio during your Senior Year in the Fall Semester.
Deadlines
- By Spring Semester of Junior Year:
Develop your Junior Proposal for the work you intend to exhibit in the Senior Capstone Art Exhibition. - By Mid-February:
Send a link to your proposal to the Art Faculty by submitting it to this form. - Early March (Before Advisement):
You will be notified by the Art Faculty if your proposal passes or if you need to edit or modify your proposal for it to pass.
Evaluation
The Art Faculty will review all proposals and determine if they receive a Pass or No Pass:
- Pass: The proposal demonstrates conceptual and artistic depth, and the student is approved to move forward with project development in ART 480: Advanced Studio.
- No Pass: The proposal does not yet meet requirements for approval. The student must revise and resubmit the proposal in response to faculty feedback. There is no limit to resubmissions; students may revise and resubmit until they achieve a Pass.
Proposal Requirements
Your proposal must include:
- Five images of recent artwork (work does not need to be identical to your proposal, but should demonstrate capability and relevance).
- Sketches, images, 3D models, or digital renderings of the work you intend to create for the Senior Art Exhibition.
- A written description of your proposed project, including:
- Conceptual content and artistic intent
- Formal description (media, materials, and scale)
- Reference and resource materials (artists, readings, or influences)
- A timeline outlining stages of completion for the proposed work.
Advising and Revision
Students are strongly encouraged to consult with a member of the Art Faculty while preparing their proposal. Proposals that do not receive a Pass should be revised according to faculty feedback and resubmitted for further review.
