Art at St. Norbert College
The Art program at St. Norbert College emphasizes both technical craft and engagement with contemporary art and design theory and practice. Rooted in the liberal arts tradition, our students develop as thoughtful makers and critical thinkers whose creative work enriches and is enriched by their broader academic and intellectual experiences.
We are one of the few liberal arts colleges in the United States to offer a distinctive and comprehensive sequence in graphic design. Students pursuing this path earn a Bachelor of Arts degree. A graphic design minor is also available. In addition, students may complement their studies through our Arts Management Certificate Program, which provides valuable preparation for careers in the cultural and creative industries.

Art Capstone Program Requirements:
The Art Capstone sequence culminates the major through a structured progression from proposal to public exhibition. During the junior year, students submit a Junior Proposal outlining the conceptual framework, scope, and intended direction of their Senior Exhibition project; faculty approval is required prior to enrollment in the Advanced Studio course. In Advanced Studio (ART 480), students develop and refine a cohesive body of work through critiques and individual mentorship. The sequence concludes with ART 499: Senior Art Capstone, in which students prepare, install, and present their work in the Senior Art Exhibition at the Bush Art Center Galleries. The experience includes professional documentation and submission of materials to the college’s digital archive. This capstone is required of all Art majors; the capstone exhibition is graded on an S/U basis. Find more information about these requirements here:
